Konema Mwenenge is the second person Dr. Dokolo trusts for his businesses after his wife and handles all managerial activities for him. The public fund embezzlement argument continues as Dokolo did not acknowledge that public funds have anything to do with his opaque businesses.
Sindika Dokolo would always talk about African artworks and their collection in public without knowing he has many businesses he controls with his wife and a ghost manager, Mr. Konema Mwenenge, acting in their position.
Based on the investigation conducted by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and 36 media to expose Dokolo’s and dos Santos’ public fund looting, several documents were discovered which show that Dokolo and his wife have many businesses in their control. The following images give the email conversation between Dokolo and dos Santos’ manager, Mr. Mwenenge, and his financial advisor.
For Mr. Dokolo’s business, he only trusts two people, dos Santos and his discrete friend whom he met in high school, Mr. Konema Mwenenge. Mr. Mwenenge is a hardworking and offshore finance skilled man.
According to a close relative of the two friends, Mr. Mwenenge is not social, unlike Dokolo, who is the showoff. To conceal his business’ identity, he worked with Mr. Mwenenge based on his offshore finance skill and hardworking and discrete character.
Mr. Mwenenge is a Congolese and French citizen. He is the son of Mobutu Sese Soko, an aristocrat of the second Congolese republic. He operates under two addresses, one in the eighth Paris arrondissement and the other where he started one of his financial services companies in London.
Mr. Mwenenge also collaborated with Dokolo to set up a business that involves the trading of diamonds in Dubai, with a gain of about $2 billion in gems a year in Angola and other places with the precious treasure.
According to Luanda Leaks, Dokolo invested in many other businesses, and Mr. Konema Mwenenge was always in the management position even though the couple’s shell company was not left behind. Mr. Mwenenge was found everywhere in 2 years (2015 to 2017), managing their business and providing about $3 million in income to Sodiba, the Angolan brewery.
According to a record found by the Luanda Leaks, an October 2016 presentation brochure shows that Dokolo and dos Santos were the “Angolan shareholders of record” of Sodiba, which shows their involvement with Mr. Mwenenge in the Angolan brewery.
Mr. Konema Mwenenge managed this couple’s opaque businesses for years and never raised those behind the scene.
Some records show that the couple’s fortune was not only from the Angolan public funds. The Angolan and Portugal banks were also their aid as they have approved more than $1 billion in loans for their businesses. From this, Mr. Dokolo did not acknowledge the acquisition of him and his wife getting their wealth from the Angolan Public funds.
According to ICIJ and its collaborators, Mr. Dokolo was not ready to answer all questions submitted to him by the ICIJ. And said in one of his statements,
“Beyond the truth of the facts, some things you accuse me of are not even illegal in Angolan law. It’s like I’m accusing you of being ugly or in a bad mood… What’s the point of answering me?”
With all these accusations and evidence, Mr. Dokolo, his wife Sodiba, and his manager, Mr. Mwenenge, now face the Angolan authorities as there was a request to the United Arab Emirate Financial Intelligence to act in freezing both personal and business bank accounts owned by the three and family.
